What the views have in common

Every view covers your connected Tastytrade account first, then any accounts you imported from a CSV file, each under its own header row. The arrow in a header row collapses that account. Accounts are analyzed separately, and account numbers can be masked with Privacy mode.

The numbers come from the trades the app has. For the live account, that reaches back as far as Settings → Analysis → Transaction range to fetch (Year to Date by default); for an import, as far as the file goes.

Most views share a toolbar: Symbol filters to one stock (tap it again to clear), Refresh fetches new trades, and Maximize / Restore open the view full screen and back. Tapping a row makes its stock the current symbol, so the quote header and the Chart and Options tabs switch to it.

Colours in these views describe the numbers. They aren't signals to trade.

Contracts

The Contracts view, titled Wheel Contracts, lists the short options of your wheel: cash-secured puts and covered calls you've sold and not yet closed, one row per contract. Each account's header row totals its net price and gain or loss.

Each row starts with a coloured label giving the quantity, expiration and strike. The main columns:

ColumnWhat it shows
StrikeThe strike, with a small gauge under it showing where the stock price sits against it. The dot is green when the price is on the side that favours the position, red when it isn't.
U-Mark / MarkThe stock's and the option's current prices, live.
Trd Prc / Net PrcThe price the contract was opened at, and the net price paid or received for it.
P/L / % P/LThe current gain or loss, in dollars and as a percentage.
RemRoRRemaining return on risk: what's left to earn if the option expires worthless.
OrigCAGR / RemCAGRThe original trade's return, and the remaining return, as a compounded yearly rate.

Numbers turn yellow or bold red when they cross warning levels you set for each account in Settings → Analysis, under Warning Level Settings: few days left to expiration, the stock near or past the strike, a loss or gain past a level, or a return below a floor. The strike is always red when the option is in the money.

Tap a column header to sort, and again to reverse; the sort is remembered.

Long Contracts

The Long Contracts view lists options you bought and still hold, such as protective puts or long calls. It works like the Contracts view, with the same labels, live prices and gain or loss, but leaves out the return columns, since those measure premium collected on options sold. A contract leaves the list once it's closed, expires or is exercised.

Long contracts have their own warning levels, under Long contracts coloring in each account's card in Settings → Analysis. Where one isn't set, the matching Contracts level is used.

P&L

The P&L view sums up what your accounts have made and what your open options could still bring in. Buttons at the top pick one of four tables:

  • Weekly Projected Premium: the premium your short options are set to bring in, for the current week, the next four weeks and everything later, with the capital they require and their return. Long options aren't premium income, so they're left out, with a note saying what they cost.
  • Account P&L: one card per account, with a dial of capital in use, the account's P&L by source (closed options, stock, dividends, interest, fees, deposits) and a balance sheet summary. Net Gain is shown both excluding deposits, which is what the trading itself made, and including them.
  • Monthly P&L: realized P&L by calendar month, split into short options, long options, stock, dividends, interest, fees and deposits.
  • P&L by Underlying: realized P&L stock by stock, with the wheel grade, for the full analysis window or this year only.

In the weekly and monthly tables you can select rows to total just those: click a row and Shift-click another on a computer, or long-press on a touch screen.

Realized means closed: a trade counts once it's closed, expired or assigned. Projected premium assumes options are held to expiration; it describes what's open, not a forecast. For an imported account, the CAGR figures need the Net Liquidating Value you enter for it in Settings → Analysis.

Ledger

The Ledger lists the raw transactions behind every other view: each trade, assignment, dividend, fee and transfer. When a number elsewhere looks wrong, this is where to check what the app has.

It has one section per source: your Tastytrade account, and each imported CSV (titled with the file's name and when it was imported). Each section's header has:

  • CSV to export that section's transactions, as filtered, to a file your browser downloads;
  • Remove import, the bin icon, on imported sections, which takes that file's transactions out of the app after asking you to confirm;
  • Load more on the Tastytrade section, to fetch older transactions.

The Filters panel narrows the list by symbol, asset (stock, option or fixed income), transaction type and date. Filters change only what the Ledger shows, not the analysis in the other views. Where an export didn't list fees, the app estimates them and marks them with a small icon.

An exported CSV contains real account numbers even with Privacy mode on. Privacy mode only masks what's on screen.

Activity

The Activity view is a month calendar of your short options. Each position is one row, named like GLW 144P ×2 (symbol, strike, P or C, and the number of contracts), with a bar across the days it was open.

  • Colour says what it is: purple for a put, blue for a call.
  • Style says how it ended: solid if it expired worthless; solid with a yellow diamond at the end if it was assigned; faded if you closed it early by buying it back or rolling it; outlined if it's still open, running to its expiration.
  • Small arrows at the ends: ◀ means it opened before this month, ▶ that it runs past the month's end.

Hover over a row (or press and hold) for when it opened, how and when it ended, and its premium. A key at the bottom explains the colours and styles, and a thin blue Today line marks today.

The view opens on the current month. ◀ and ▶ step back and forward, and the month name opens a list of every month with positions in it. Long options aren't shown here; they're in Long Contracts.
